It is unbelievable the uncaring attitude people in the health care industry consider acceptable. It is even more sad that places that are meant to provide help, support, and knowledge about your condition are trained to make the entire process distasteful and stressful. I can understand why people quit!
Love that you provide some helpful links for people that may be feeling lost and wondering how to move forward when they cannot even get an appointment! I like the idea of recording your sessions. I would be that person who records it without saying anything . . .

If you ask to record the sessions in anyway, you have to sign a document stating that the recordings can’t be used as evidence, which is a joke. I asked to do so after my first experience with them, but there’s little point if you can’t use the recording as evidence.

Atos, much like Serco can win contracts and perform terrible, but will still get new contract. They’re basically untouchable. Petitions and news articles exposing them don’t change anything

Ooh! This reeks! With such consistently poor service, Is this company not accountable to anyone?
What about video taping your assessments? As proof
Or the patients who continuously suffer at the hands of their unfavourable nature, sign a petition for them to be investigated or their contract terminated.

I doubt they’ll ever allow the NHS to run these assessments because then they’d be giving money to the NHS rather than their friends and donors in the private sector.

The whole process is a massive waste of money like people with chronic conditions will magically get better rather than worse as time moves on

I have never heard of Atos but just by reading this, it’s honestly disgraceful! First of all as you said why wouldn’t the GP be in charge of these assessments when they know you better and your health instead of a third party company? Second why reassess people so often to always deny them? It’s incredible that they don’t tailor the tests depending on what you have and reschedule at the last moment like people don’t have other things to do. Sorry for the rant, really hope the situation can change and get an assessment from GPs instead.
